Miss Poulsbo & Miss Kitsap Little Sister Program

The Little Sister Program is a very special part of the Miss Poulsbo/Miss Kitsap Organization. We are entering our ninth year where we pair 3rd grade girls with our Miss Poulsbo and Miss Kitsap Contestants. 

We take the information that the girls and the contestants fill out and match them up. Every match is different; some of the pairs are still in contact and do activities together. While others end after the pageant is over. Regardless of the length of the relationship, this is a once in a lifetime experience.
  

We have a very special Tea Party where we reveal the Little Sister matches in early February. The Little Sisters will perform a production number at this year’s pageant. They will come on stage with their Big Sister and be “crowned” by her. All of the Little Sisters will march in the Viking Fest Parade together. The Little Sisters of the new Miss Poulsbo and Miss Kitsap will make appearances with them during their year of service.
  
The Little Sister Program requires a major commitment from the young lady and her family, she will need to attend Sunday practices during February and March leading up to the pageant, dress rehearsal on March 28th and of course pageant night on the 29th. The two lucky young ladies who’s Big Sisters win the titles of Miss Poulsbo and Miss Kitsap are expected to ride in the local parades with them and may do some other appearances with them.  
   

The Little Sisters - Class of 2007

Although there is no charge to be a part of the program the young ladies usually buy a new dress for the pageant and buy small presents for their Big Sisters. The Little Sisters buy a sweatshirt for $20.00 and may have to purchase shoes or other small items for their production outfit. Each Little Sister is given two complimentary tickets to the pageant for family members to use, the Little Sister is expected to come to the Pageant After Party and price for that is around $10.00. Photos will also be available for purchase at the Tea Party and Pageant; DVDs will also be available for purchase.

Parents can help fill out the application, but the words should be in the young lady’s voice. Be creative and thorough as you work on it. The information is used to match up personalities of the final group of Contestants and Little Sisters. We are currently filled, and not taking applications for the 2008 pageant.  We would love to take every young lady who will apply, but it simply is impossible, so make yourself stand out.
